Level 2: Building, Upgrading and Configuring Computers
Overview
You don’t have any experience with configuring and managing computers? No problem! You can use this course as a starting point to learn all computer basics from both a hardware and an operating system point of view.
You will better familiarize yourself with hardware components, how to build an entire computer from them and learn how to connect external devices via input and output interfaces. You will also better understand everything you need to know about the most popular operating systems – Windows and Linux. Moreover, you will practice deploying them to build robust skills that will make you stand out in the tech world. This course will give you the foundational knowledge for your career as an IT professional in system administration and cybersecurity.

Outcomes
Upon completion of this level, participants will:
- Recognize and understand the usage of the core component of computing.
- Build your own lab used for testing and virtualization.
- Understand the process of installing software in Linux.
- Gain hands-on experience with computer hardware components and input output devices.
- Be fully prepared for the challenges ahead in the Ops world.
- Gain the needed knowledge to continue on to Level 3.
- Personal computer updated with the latest version of OS and all security patches installed that meets the following requirements:
- Supported operating systems: macOS, Linux, or Windows (Pro edition required)
- Latest OS version, fully up to date
- All security updates installed
- Free of viruses
- At least 100GB of free space on the hard drive
- At least 16GB of RAM, 32GB RAM is strongly preferred
- Support for video conferencing and screen-sharing, with a reliable webcam and microphone
- Basic computer skills and home internet usage.
- Level 1: Intro to Ethical Hacking or equivalent exposure to basic ethical hacking techniques and finding security weaknesses.
